This Privacy Policy explains how Rizful collects, uses, and protects personal information obtained through our hosted Lightning node services. By using our services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
We recommend privacy-preserving technology
When you interact with this website, we recommend that you use:
- A VPN to protect your IP address.
- A privacy-preserving email service.
Public Lightning channels
By opening a "public" lightning channel, you add your node to the public network graph. You make publicly available:
- Your node's public key.
- Your node's alias.
- The existence and total capacity of any "public" channels that you open
Please note that your ip address, email address, or any other personally identifiable information, will not be revealed by opening a public channel.
Information We Collect
- Email Address: We collect your email address to manage your account and communicate with you. We recommend that you use a privacy-preserving email service.
- Node Data: We store information necessary to operate your hosted Lightning node, including configuration details, events, balances, channel details, and error logs. This data is not associated with your IP address, unless you affirmatively select the Advanced Analytics option.
- Cookies: Cookies are used to manage sessions and keep you logged in. Disabling cookoies will probably break the functionality of this website.
- Basic Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics, an open-source, privacy-focused analytics tool, to collect aggregated, anonymized data on website usage. This data does not track individual visitors or collect personal information. No IP addresses are logged and no cookies are used for these analytics.
- Advanced Analytics (Optional): When you first start a node on Rizful, you will be asked to visit the Analytics Settings page where you must choose between Basic or Advanced Analytics. If you choose Advanced Analytics, we use LogRocket to track your detailed usage of Rizful, including recording your browser's IP address and actions you take on the website. LogRocket automatically deletes all collected data after 30 days. This option is only recommended if you wish to help us test and improve Rizful.
- Error Tracking: Regardless of your analytics choice, when your browser or Rizful's code produces errors, those errors are automatically sent to Sentry for debugging purposes. Sentry is configured to anonymize IP addresses to protect your privacy while allowing us to identify and fix technical issues.
Analytics and Error Tracking
Plausible Analytics (Basic Analytics)
By default, we use Plausible Analytics, an open-source, privacy-focused analytics tool. Plausible Analytics does not use cookies, track individual visitors, or collect any personal data. All data is aggregated and does not track users across devices or websites. Plausible Analytics is hosted on EU servers and is fully compliant with GDPR and other privacy regulations.
LogRocket (Advanced Analytics - Optional)
If you choose Advanced Analytics in your Analytics Settings, we use LogRocket to collect detailed usage data including screen recordings, browser information, and IP addresses. This data helps us test and improve Rizful. LogRocket automatically deletes all collected data after 30 days. Only choose this option if you want to help us test Rizful.
Sentry (Error Tracking - Always Active)
We use Sentry for error tracking and debugging purposes. When technical errors occur in your browser or in Rizful's code, error details are automatically sent to Sentry. Sentry is configured to anonymize IP addresses to protect your privacy while allowing us to identify and fix issues that affect the service.
How We Use Analytics Information

Information Sharing
We may share information in the following situations:
- Vendors and Service Providers: We don't share analytics or node data with outside vendors or services.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the security of our users, or the public.
- Business Transactions: In the event of a merger, sale, or acquisition, we may share or transfer information, subject to confidentiality agreements.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information with your consent or at your direction, including situations where you opt into additional features.
Your Choices
- Analytics Settings: You can choose between Basic Analytics (Plausible) and Advanced Analytics (LogRocket) by visiting your Analytics Settings. You can change this setting at any time.
- Error Tracking: Sentry error tracking cannot be disabled as it is essential for maintaining service quality and fixing technical issues. However, IP addresses are anonymized.
- Cookies: You can set your browser to reject cookies, though this may affect your ability to use our services effectively.
Data Security
We take data security seriously and implement measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. All collected data is encrypted and stored securely.
Deleting Your Data
To delete your data, first close all of your channels and withdraw all of your funds from your node(s). Then, use the My Account link at the top of this page and choose Close Account. Any data associated with your account will be automatically deleted.
Do-Not-Track (DNT) Controls
Some web browsers and mobile apps offer a Do-Not-Track (DNT) feature to signal your preference not to have your online activity monitored. Currently, there is no standardized way to recognize and implement DNT signals, so we do not respond to them. If a standard is adopted in the future that requires compliance, we will update our Privacy Policy accordingly.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on our website. Continued use of the service after the changes take effect will signify your acceptance of the revised policy.
